It's gravimetric — it weighs the water in the pot rather than poking a probe into the soil. Because it sees the real water balance, it catches the slow drowning that kills most houseplants, and warns you early, before roots rot.
Your own. Tops & Roots fits most standard nursery pots up to 18cm — keep the plant you already have. Nothing is pre-potted and nothing is locked in.
There's no built-in lamp. At setup the app measures the light where your plant lives, using your phone, and helps you place it well. A grow-light add-on is on our roadmap — not in the box.
The wireless Stand runs about three years on two AA batteries, so there's no cable across your room. The Self-Feeder and Kit add a slim low-voltage line for the pump.
